Guidance

Scholarships:  scholarships are paid according to the DFG Graduate Program  (currently appr. 1365 Euro). This will cover most living expenses in the Munich area.
 
Fees: no tuition fees, however  to be enrolled at  the University as a PhD Student will cost you approx. 95 Euro per term.
 
Rent:  for an apartment or a flat for a single person is approx. 400-500 Euro per month.

German Bank Account:  Every foreign Student needs a German bank account.

Health Insurance: Every student needs German health insurance. This you will also need for the extension of your Visa.

Resident Permit/Visa: To stay in Germany every foreign student needs a residence permit . This is not a requirement for candidates of member states of the European Union.  However you have to register with the City Council. Forms to do so you can find here.

Please note that the Visa must be issued for the correct purpose of stay. A tourist Visa or a so called "Schengen Visa" is not sufficient.
